A Single Red Thread Continues to Stretch...
Lorraine Butler Simcox is the author of a newly released children's book entitled A Single Red Thread. In the story, orphan Qu Yi must leave her Auntie and embark on a new journey... one that will take her far away from her native land. A Single Red Thread is a heartwarming story of enduring hope, extraordinary sacrifice, and lives woven together by A Single Red Thread... it is sure to become a favorite in any child's book collection.
Seven years ago, as a single woman, God laid it on Lorraine's heart to take a step of faith and adopt a child. Throughout Lorraine's life, all she ever desired to be was a faithful wife and mother. Her dreams were greatly dashed when she learned at an early adolescent age that she would never be able to conceive children of her own. For years Lorraine lived in the silent emotional pain associated with infertility and barrenness. As a single woman, Lorraine began to consider adoption. After much prayer, she decided to take the counsel of her pastor who explained that while the perfect will of God for a family is a father and a mother, it was certainly within God's permissible will for a single woman to adopt a child. He explained that God places those strong desires in our hearts for His purpose. Lorraine believed in her heart that God had given her the desire to become a mother since she was a little girl and that her infertility and barrenness would one day be used by Him. She just had no idea how!
Following the adoption of her daughter Lillian, from China, Lorraine's red thread continued to stretch. Her mission is three fold. First, through the publication of the children's book, A Single Red Thread, Lorraine hopes to raise adoption awareness and the blessings associated with adoption. Second, Lorraine has dreams of establishing a foundation that will help care for orphans in need. Finally, through public speaking Lorraine hopes to see others become involved in caring for here within the United States as well as orphans world wide. Lorraine truly believes that these children need the love and support a caring family can provide.
When God showed Lorraine that it was all right to embark upon this endeavor and see A Single Red Thread used as a tool to help care for others, her faith completely leaned into all of His promises. Elisabeth Elliott once penned... "A woman's heart should be so hidden in God that any man seeking a relationship with her would have to seek God in order to find her." Two weeks after making that decision and stepping out in faith, God brought Lorraine's husband, Dwight Rex, and son John, into her and Lillian's lives. Read More
